About TPA Ventures
Founded by the people who used to write IEPs at midnight.
TPA Ventures is built by former special education directors, school psychologists and engineers who have spent careers inside K-12 systems. We exist so certified educators can start from a student's real data instead of a blank page.
Why we started
Our founders ran special education departments, completed evaluations and built the systems districts use to keep records. From every one of those seats the same problem was visible: a certified teacher with 24 students on a caseload reading a 38-page psychoeducational report on a Sunday night, retyping standard scores into a form, and composing goals from memory or from last year's plan.
That work drives teacher burnout, and it drives district risk. Vague baselines, goals that are not measurable and late annual reviews are the findings state monitors cite most often, and they are the same defects that appear in due process complaints. In Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District RE-1, 580 U.S. 386 (2017), the Supreme Court held unanimously that an IEP must be reasonably calculated to enable progress appropriate in light of the child's circumstances, a standard “markedly more demanding than the 'merely more than de minimis' test.” Meeting it takes data, time and attention that the paperwork keeps consuming.
TPA Ventures takes the reading, the retyping and the deadline tracking off the educator's plate. It drafts present levels, measurable goals and prior written notices from the student's own evaluation data, cites every source, and watches every IDEA clock across the district. The team still decides. They just start from the student's actual numbers.
What we believe
Five principles that decide what ships.
- 01
Drafts, not decisions
TPA Ventures writes first drafts. Eligibility, services and placement belong to the IEP team under 34 CFR § 300.321, and the product is built so it cannot take that role.
- 02
Every sentence cites its source
A baseline without a page reference is a liability. Each number in a draft links to the evaluation, probe or teacher input it came from, or the draft says the data is missing.
- 03
The IEP team is the authority
Parents, teachers, providers and administrators decide what a student needs. Our job is to give them a cleaner starting point and more of the meeting for the student.
- 04
Student data is the district's
We act as a school official under FERPA, host only in the United States, never train models on student records, and delete data on termination with written certification.
- 05
Measurable or it does not ship
Every goal is checked for condition, behavior, criterion and measurement method. If we cannot say how a team would know the goal was met, the feature is not done.
