Comparison

TPA Ventures vs. manual IEP authoring

Most IEPs are still written by hand: a case manager reads a 20 to 40 page evaluation, retypes scores, and composes goals from memory or last year's plan. TPA Ventures keeps the educator in charge of every word while removing the retyping, the copy-paste errors and the missed dates.

The detail behind the table

Where manual drafting time actually goes

Writing the goal sentence is a small part of the work. Most hours go to reading evaluation reports, finding the current score for each skill, retyping it, and reconciling it with last year's plan and teacher input.

That is the part TPA Ventures automates. The case manager still decides what the student needs, which goals matter, and how ambitious they should be.

Errors that surface in monitoring

State monitoring findings commonly cite goals that are not measurable, present levels that do not connect to goals, and late evaluations or reviews. These defects come from time pressure more than lack of skill.

  • Baselines that describe a skill without a number
  • Goals that do not connect to any need in the PLAAFP
  • Prior written notices missing required elements
  • Annual reviews held after the anniversary date

What does not change

TPA Ventures does not hold meetings, determine eligibility, decide placement or sign anything. It never invents a score: if the data is not in the source documents, the draft says so and asks the case manager to supply it.

Manual IEP authoring: questions districts ask

Will teachers lose the skill of writing goals?

Drafts are a starting point. Teachers edit every goal, and the measurability checks explain why a goal passes or fails, which tends to build the skill rather than erode it.

How much time do districts actually save?

It depends on caseload and current practice. Our customers report drafting time per annual IEP falling by roughly half or more once staff are familiar with the workflow.

Can we keep our existing templates?

Yes. Drafts are formatted to your IEP system's sections and your district's writing conventions.

Does this replace the IEP meeting?

No. The team still meets, discusses and decides. Better drafts mean more of the meeting goes to the student.

Other comparisons

TPA Ventures drafts; your team decides. Every goal, accommodation and notice is reviewed and finalized by certified staff and parents. TPA Ventures does not make eligibility or placement determinations and does not replace the IEP team required by 34 CFR § 300.321.
