Governing regulations: IDAPA 08.02.03.109; Idaho Special Education Manual (incorporated by reference). State education agency: Idaho Department of Education.
- Initial evaluation
- 60 calendar days from consent to the eligibility determination, excluding periods when school is not in session for 5 or more consecutive school days.

- Annual review
- At least once every 365 days (34 CFR § 300.324(b)(1)).
- Reevaluation
- At least every 3 years unless the parent and LEA agree it is unnecessary, and not more than once a year without agreement (34 CFR § 300.303).
- Transition planning
- Must be in effect by age 16.
- Academic standards
- Idaho Content Standards
- IEP forms & systems
- No single mandated statewide IEP platform; districts use vendor systems with state model forms from the Idaho Special Education Manual.
Where Idaho differs from the federal baseline
- Idaho's 60 day clock runs to the eligibility determination, not just to completion of testing.
- Breaks of 5 or more consecutive school days pause the clock, and the state reporting guide records them with a specific delay code.
- The Idaho Special Education Manual is incorporated into IDAPA, so its procedures carry the force of rule.
