How we configure Virginia
Evaluation clock
Evaluations must be completed and eligibility determined within 65 business days of the special education administrator or designee receiving the referral, not the date of consent. Local school divisions may set a shorter deadline. (8VAC20-81-60).
Initial IEP meeting
A meeting to develop the IEP must be held within 30 calendar days of the eligibility determination. (8VAC20-81-110; 34 CFR § 300.323(c)(1)).
Goal alignment
SMART goals aligned to Virginia Standards of Learning, plus functional and adaptive domains.
IEP system & forms
No single mandated statewide IEP software. VDOE publishes guidance and sample forms, and school divisions use their own IEP platforms.
Transition planning
Transition components flagged for review by age 14, supporting Indicator 13.

TPA Ventures drafts; your team decides. Every goal, accommodation and notice is reviewed and finalized by certified staff and parents. TPA Ventures does not make eligibility or placement determinations and does not replace the IEP team required by 34 CFR § 300.321.
Cut IEP drafting time by 60% while strengthening legal defensibility.
