FERPA configuration

  • TPA Ventures operates as a school official under 34 CFR § 99.31(a)(1)(i)(B) with legitimate educational interest; the PowerSchool connection is scoped to the students and fields your district authorizes in writing.
  • Connector credentials are stored encrypted (AES-256) in a dedicated secrets vault, rotated on your schedule, and never visible to TPA Ventures support staff.
  • Every read and write is recorded in an immutable audit log with user, timestamp, student identifier and field changed, exportable for state monitoring or records requests.

PowerSchool Special Programs questions

Is TPA Ventures a certified PowerSchool partner?

No. TPA Ventures connects using the data access methods your district already controls in PowerSchool: API credentials you issue, OneRoster rostering, and scheduled exports. Your PowerSchool contract and configuration stay unchanged.

Does the final IEP still live in PowerSchool?

Yes. PowerSchool Special Programs remains your system of record. TPA Ventures produces drafts that a certified educator reviews and finalizes there.

How long does setup take?

Most districts complete rostering and the first export within one business day once the PowerSchool administrator has issued credentials.
